Obituaries TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2003 5A Emily Gertrude Gladson Bowker Emily Bowker, beloved Pershing Bowker, years, of Gering, Saturday, Feb. EMILY BOWKER Gertrude Gladson wife of George for 61 passed away 15, 2003, at Northfield Villa Medical Center in Gering. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. A private family Eucharist will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, at St.

Andrew's Episcopal Church in Scottsbluff, with Father Bob Spencer officiating. Private committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Pallbearers will be her son, sons-in-law and grandsons. A public Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. that same day at St.

Andrew's Episcopal Church. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Altar Guild, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Foundation, Prairie Haven Hospice, the Salvation Army or to the donor's choice. Friends who wish may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home Wednesday from 1 p.m.

until 7 p.m. Emily was born April 13, 1917, in Alliance, to Raymond C. (Blondie) and Elsie Marie Betebenner Gladson. She and George were married April 2, 1942 in San Francisco, Calif. She was a resident of Scottsbluff for 59 years, and a member of St.

Andrew's Episcopal Church where she was an active member of the Altar Guild. She was a telephone operator at The Alliance Air Force Base during World War Two, a beautician, and part manager at Bowker Plumbing and Heating. She and her husband enjoyed years of square dancing and round dancing. She loved playing cards (pinochle and bridge) regularly with her friends. She is well known for her intricate needlepoint, which can be found on Altar Kneeling Pads at St.

Andrew's. She delighted in creating crocheted blankets for all her grandchildren, knitting, and was an accomplished seamstress sewing for herself and her children (creating Halloween costumes along with wedding gowns) and was an avid crafter. Emily was also known for her tasty apple and cherry pies in addition to her weekly loaves of wheat bread and baking Christmas cookies and candies to share with her family, friends and neighbors. She also loved flower and vegetable gardening acquiring the title of "Pickle Queen" from her friends. Emily was also an enthusiastic Cornhusker fan always sharing words of encouragement for her team! She is survived by her husband; son, George P.

Bowker, of Gering; and daughters and sons in law Lynda and Gordon Specht, of Covington, Va, and Nancy and George Meyer, of Douglas, Wyo. Additionally, she is survived by eight grandchildren, Tracy Butler and spouse Shorty, of Cody, Heather Specht, of Zanesville, Ohio; Sara Bowker, of Scottsbluff; Shannon Fincher and spouse Jill, of Rapid City, S.D.; Brad Bowker, of Lincoln; Jason Specht of Morgantown W. Allison Bowker, of Kearney; and Kristen Meyer, of Douglas Wyo. Emily is also survived by her cousin, Matt Wolfe, of Green Valley, a brother in law and sister in law, Jack and Annabelle Bowker, of Hesperia, sisters in law Angie Gladson, of Durango, Colo. and Jean Bowker, of Long Beach, two nieces and six nephews.

Her parents, an infant son, Daniel Harvey Bowker, a sister Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Enright and a brother, Arnold Lloyd Gladson preceded her in death. Stanley M. Christensen BRIDGEPORT Stanley Morris Christensen, 80, formally of Bridgeport, died Feb. 13, 2003 at Highland Manor in Mesquite. Nev.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport. Burial will be at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport with Military Honors. A memorial has been established to the Cancer Society.

Stanley was born Sept. 30, 1922 to Arch and Martha M. (Christensen) Christenson at Oshkosh. He married Garnett M. Stonecipher on Jan.

27, 1946 at St. Paul Methodist Church in Lincoln. Stan retired from the Air Force: a Colonel. He served 21 years with the United States Air Force. Stan served his country in the Air Force during WWII, Korea War, and Vietnam War.

Survivors include, son Steve Christensen, of Columbia, South America; daughter Cindy Christensen, of Naperville, five grandchildren, Cody, Matt, and Stephanie Christensen, and Brock and Kelly Bahe. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Garnett, on April 12, 1996. Ida Garcia Ida Garcia, 90, of Gering, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Funeral arrangements are pending at DuganKramer Funeral Chapel.

and Helen (Pauley) Hein. He was raised and educated at Scottsbluff, graduating from Scottsbluff High School with the class of 1950. He served with the United States Air Force for four years and was honorably discharged. He then attended the University of Illinois at Urbana and earned an Associate of Arts Degree. Floyd was united in marriage to Margaret "Peggy" Boyle, Dec.

24, 1975 at Scottsbluff. He farmed for many years before going to work for of Kimball. He later worked for Stanko-Southwest Hide Company as their maintenance engineer. Floyd then tried retirement but work ethic would not allow his retirement to last long. He went back to work for Robinson Electric in Gering and worked for them until his death.

He spent his spare time doing what he loved, spending time with his family and music. He enjoyed playing the accordion and organ. His love of music led him to play in the Novotny Band in Kimball in his early years. He is survived by his wife, Margaret sons, Floyd G. Hein, of Wyoming, Gerald "Jay" Hein and his wife, Carol, of Ocala, Harvey Hein and his wife, Sandi, of Windsor, Ervin Hein and his wife, Tracy, of West Palm Beach, Ivan Hein and his wife, Chris, of West Palm Beach, stepson, Carl DeFilippo, of Bangor, Maine; eleven grandchildren, Floyd III, Matthew, Jimmy, Heather, Nancy, Kimberly, J.B., Justin and Taylor Hein, Michael Haddon, Carl DeFilippo III; brothers, James Hein, Lincoln and George W.

Hein, of Cottonwood, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild. Evelyn was born April 27, 1913 in Minatare, to Ernest and Lily Marie (Hedstrom) Leafgreen. She graduated from Minatare High School in 1930 and attended Chadron State Teacher's College. She married Ivan Imes Aug. 2, 1936 in Minatare. She was employed by, Western Public Service and sold Real Estate in Louisville, 1 Ky.

from 1957-1983. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Scottsbluff and Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church from 1953-1987. She enjoyed bridge, golf, travel, reading, crosswords and Jeopardy. She married Joseph Donald Kelley on April 22, 1946. She is survived by her sons, Larry Kelley and his wife, Suzanne, of Omaha and Jim Kelley and his wife, Grace, of Gering; daughter Karen Kelley, of Denver, sister, Mary Jo Earl, of Denver; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Larson GURLEY Kenneth G. Larson, 87, of Gurley went to be with the Lord, on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb.

19, at the Dalton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Eldin Wells and Leon Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in the Dalton Cemetery. Holechek Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.

to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Dalton Presbyterian Church. Kenneth George Larson, son of Joe V. Larson and Lillie Laura (Lindquest) Larson was born Oct. 31, 1915 at Stromsberg.

Kenny's doctor was the first black athlete at the University of Nebraska, Dr. Flippin. After receiving a 10th grade education, he along with his family, moved to Cheyenne County, in 1932 and settled 9 miles west of Gurley. On Feb. 19, 1941, he married Dorothy Lucille Munshaw, of Dalton, at her parents home, by the Rev.

Howard Osborn. His folks having moved to Banner County, allowed Kenny and Dorothy to live and farm west of Gurley, until moving into Gurley in' 1999. During those years, three daughters, Twila, Jolene and Connie, and one son Lanny, were born. Kenneth was a very active member of his church and the community. Serving on the Dalton Presbyterian Church Board, Gurley School Board, 4-H Leader, Cheyenne County Farm Bureau, Nebraska Farm Bureau Board, Scottsbluff' Production Credit Board, Nebraska Crop Improvement Board, Gurley Cafe Board, Gurley Telephone Company, Charter member of the Gurley Lions, Masonic Lodge, Lodgepole Valley Shrine, as well as Cheyenne County Commissioner.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Gurley; daughters, Twila Flohr and her husband, Phil, of Gurley, Jolene Egging and her husband, Richard, of Gurley; son, Lanny Larson, of Potter; and daughter-in-law Julie Larson, of Farmington, N.M.; sister, Laura Bredehoft, of Longmont, brothers, Rollie and his wife, Liz, of Plains, Larry and his wife, Sandy, of Missoula, sister-in-law, Velma Larson, of Sterling, nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Martha Schledewitz BAYARD Martha Schledewitz, 93, of Bayard, passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2003 at the Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Charlotte Johnson and Amy Ngo officiating.

Interment will be at the Mitchell Valley Cemetery in Mitchell. Friends may call Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel Tuesday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Memorials have been established to the North Platte Chapter American Red Cross and to the Chimney Rock Villa. Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Martha was born on July 30, 1909 in Windsor, Colo. to Jacob and Sophie (Jerger) Lackman. She lived in various states, but Nebraska was her home.

She received her basic education at Victory Hill School. Martha was married to Andrew Schledewitz on Feb. 16, 1930. They were married 71 years. Martha is survived by her three children, Ruth Meisner, of Gering, Palmer and wife, Iona Schledewitz, of Branson, and Kathleen and husband, John Voris, of Carmel, four grandchildren, Barbara Hassan, of Scottsbluff, Gordon Meisner, of Scottsbluff, Jerald (Shelly) Meisner, of Gering and Pamela Schledewitz, of Carmel, two step granddaughters Amanda and Jessica Voris, of Carmel, three great grandchildren Ahmad (Shanof Scottsbluff, Jamie and Stacey Meisner, of Gering; three great great grandchildren R'Yanna, Adrick, and Sadrick Hassan of Scottsbluff.

Martha is also survived by her siblings Esther Helzer and Molly Vogel both of Scottsbluff. Her husband, parents, four brothers, one sister and one grandson preceded Martha in death. Helen Louise Stauffer Helen Louise Stauffer, 87 of Gering, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at Regional West Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb.

DuganKramer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Helen was born on Aug. 26, 1915 at Melbeta, to Stanley and Irma (Casteel) Jessup. She attended school in Banner County. She was united in marriage to Walter D.

Stauffer on Dec. 12, 1934 in Gering. Helen was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family always came first. She will be missed always.

Helen is survived by her husband of 68 years, Walter Stauffer; daughter Gwen Bayerl (Joe), of Gering; son, Jerry D. Stauffer (Mona), of Denver, grandchildren, Teri Drake (Steve), of Greybull, Tina Rein (Rick), of Bayard, Craig Stauffer (Sundi), of Bainbridge Island, Janelle Wade (Mark), of North Las Vegas, Nev. and Melody Holden, of Galexa, sister Betty Stewart, of Broomfield. 10 great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tim Muhr; parents; two sisters; and two brothers.

August (Gus) Yeradi CHADRON Funeral vices for August 'Gus' Yeradi, age 91, of Chadron will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 at St. Patrick's Church in Chadron. He died Feb.

17. A memorial has been established for the Chadron Rescue Unit. Send donations to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337. August Yeradi was born June 16, 1911 in Cortali, Italy to Thomas and Angela (Occhiuto) Yeradi, and came to this country when he was a small boy.

He was manager of the Elks Club in Chadron for 25 years. He also managed the American Legion for a short time. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 56 years and an active member of the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department for 52 years. Survivors include, his wife, Margarete; daughters, Sharlene and husband, Al Lessman, of Dalton, Cheryl and husband, John Davis, of Brighton, Lori and husband, Bob Crawford, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; son, Tom Yeradi and wife, Linda, of Chadron; sister, Mary RaimonJamestown, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son.

8, 1988 in Scottsbluff, to Anthony and Irene (Eureste) Guerrero. She grew up and attended school in Gering where she was currently a ninth-grader. She participated in volleyball, was student manager for the basketball team, active in the CLOWNS drug free program and was a carrier for the Star-Herald since May of 2002. On June 22, 1997 she accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and attended Northfield Assembly of God Church where she was active in Missionettes and the youth group. She is survived by her parents, Anthony and Irene; sisters, Elise and Danielle, both of the home and brother, Marc of the home; grandparents, Albert M.

and Terri Guerrero, of Phoenix, Ariz. and Frank and Candy Eureste, of Mitchell; aunts and uncles, Betty Helzer and Al Gomez, of Gering, Mary Jane and Jerry Novakowski, of Grand Island, JoAnn Eureste and Ed Orozco, of Scottsbluff, Peggy and Margarito Carrizales, of Mitchell, Angela and Gilbert Sanchez, of Mitchell, and Alberto "Andy" and Julia Guerrero, of Phoenix, several great aunts and uncles, cousins and a host of friends. Her maternal grandmother, Alice Eureste; great grandparents, Ralph and Jesse Ojeda, Ignacio and Lupe Guerrero and Jose Eureste preceded her in death.
