It was a comparison of This morning I spent the first hour of my day walking three miles, returning home at 6 a.m. After filling the three humming bird feeders, I turned on the sprinkler outside our dining area window. This was a signal for the show to begin. The birds appeared from everywhere and began feeding and splashing. The hummers like to fly from one feeder to another, dipping down through the spray a little water ballet.

We keep some sunflower seeds in the feeder all summer, more for our entertainment than for the birds' needs. This brings in the finches, cardinals, nuthatches, chickadees and tufted titmice for an easy meal. After my new groundcover was well watered I turned off the sprinkler and the curtain came down on today's show.
