Linda Hunter-Moore, 52

Linda Hunter-Moore, 52, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at StanfordHospital in San Jose.

Born Sept. 6, 1948, in Lawrenceberg, Tenn., she lived in Escondidomost of her life.

Mrs. Hunter-Moore was preceded in death by her father, HollisHunter, and brother Roy Hunter. She is survived by her husband of30 years, Tom; sons Christopher, 26, and Steven, 23; mother RuthRandquist; brothers Robert and Richard Hunter of Escondido, Charlesof San Jose and Russell Hunter; sisters Debbie Kreglow of Temeculaand Nellie Morioka of San Jose.

A memorial celebration was held at her home in San Jose.

Alexander Mihalkovitz, 66

SUN CITY — Alexander Edward Mihalkovitz, 66, died Saturday, June9, 2001, at his home of cancer.

Born June 17, 1934, in Elizabeth, N.J., he lived in Sun City fortwo years and Menifee for eight years. He worked as a machinist for46 years and most recently for DVI Guidant in Temecula. He wasknown as “Big Al” to his friends. He enjoyed reading, golf, deepsea fishing and camping. He had served in the U.S. Army NationalGuard Reserve.

Mr. Mihalkovitz is survived by his wife, Ruth Mihalkovitz of SunCity; sons Alex Mihalkovitz of San Bernardino, Mark Mihalkovitz ofLake Hurst, N.J., and Kirk Mihalkovitz of Costa Mesa; daughtersSusan Sanford of Lakewood, Diane Reves of Newport News, Va., andJanet Mihalkovitz of Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.; brother RichardMihalkovitz of Bayville, N.J.; sister Marilyn Hemery of New YorkCity; and six grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, atMiller-Jones Mortuary in Perris. Services followed at noon at St.Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerry McGuinnessofficiating.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American CancerSociety, 1240 Palmyrita Ave., Riverside, CA 92507.

Harley Reinbold, 80

SUN CITY — Harley George Reinbold, 80, died Thursday, June 7,2001, at Menifee Valley Medical Center.

Born July 12, 1920, in Vicksburg, Mich., he lived in Sun City for11 years. He had been a machinist for 40 years at Aable MachineCompany in National City. He served in the U.S. Navy during WorldWar II onboard the USS North Hampton, stationed in Pearl Harbor,Hawaii. He enjoyed reading, country-western music, playing theguitar, hiking and traveling. He was a deacon in the Seventh-dayAdventist Church.

Mr. Reinbold was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Reinbold. Heis survived by his wife of 26 years, Dora Reinbold of Sun City;sons Dennis Reinbold of Detour, Mich., Edward Reinbold ofWashington, Gary Reinbold of Eagle, Idaho, and George Reinbold ofSt. Marie, Mich.; stepdaughters Diane Dieckmeyer of Riverside andCelinda Mulder of Riverside; stepson David Getner of San Diego; 14grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday,June 13, at Miller Jones Mortuary Sun City. Interment will followat 2:15 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery at staging area 2.

Richard McHenry, 77

VISTA – Richard J. McHenry, 77, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at hishome.

Born Oct. 20, 1923, in Wheelersburg, Ohio, he lived in Vista forsix years and Palm Desert for 30 years. He had been an electricalengineer for Brown & Root, Inc. for 15 years. He served in theU.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. McHenry is survived by his 101-year old mother, Zelma McHenryof Mountain Home, Ark.; wife, Helen A. McHenry of Vista; brothersHoward McHenry and Emil McHenry, both of Wheelersburg; and sistersCatherine Carney of Orlando, Fla., Louvinda Stanley ofWheelersburg, Virginia Steed of Mountain Home, Shirley Chick ofMountain Home and Carolyn Herel of Jupiter, Fla.

A graveside service is scheduled for noon Wednesday, June 13, atEternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside.

Norma Lavender, 79

OCEANSIDE – Norma B. Lavender, 79, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, atTri-City Medical Center.

Born Dec. 6, 1921, in Platte Center, Neb., she lived in Oceansidefor two years and Riverside for 47 years. She was an executivesecretary to the commander of the 15th Air Force at March Air ForceBase for 37 years. She had been a member of AltrusaInternational.

Mrs. Lavender is survived by her daughter, Cindy L. Brassington ofOceanside; stepdaughter Marci Rollins of Kaneohe, Hawaii; brotherLewis Berends of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; sister Agnes Lagler of Grant,Neb.; and grandchildren Ryan and Jeffrey Brassington.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, atFaith Lutheran Church in Vista with the Rev. Dr. B.D. Droegemuellerofficiating. A private cremation and inurnment will be held at St.John’s Church Cemetery in Creston, Neb.

Wallace Ashley, 78

SLIDELL, La. – Wallace Daniel Ashley, 78, died Friday, June 8,2001, at Slidell Memorial Hospital.

Born in Simpson County, Miss., he lived in Slidell for 10 months.He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. He had been a member ofthe Elks Lodge.

Mr. Ashley was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria T. CambellAshley. He is survived by his daughters Susan Francis Ashley andSherry Ann Clark, both of Escondido; sisters Mary Alice Nunnery,Kristine Becker, Dorothy DiMaggio; and grandchildren Mathew JacobKoonz and Jennifer Koonz.

Visitation was held from 2 to 4 p.m. and funeral service at 3 p.m.Sunday, June 10 at Schoen Funeral Home. Interment was 1 p.m.Monday, June 11, at Poplar Springs Cemetery in Poplar Springs,Miss.

Leola Murphy, 79

SAN MARCOS – Leola B. Murphy, 79, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, ather home.

Born May 8, 1922, in Westmoreland, she lived in San Marcos for 15years. She had been a registered nurse for 37 years and had lastworked at Orange Grove Community Hospital in Pomona. She enjoyedher rose garden.

Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her son, John Jesse Murphy, onMay 12, 1994. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Allan M.Murphy of San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law Michael Lee andCaroline Murphy of Bee Cave, Texas; daughters and sons-in-lawCandice Eileen and David Cutter of Springfield, Va., and Evelyn Annand Garry Usnick of Upland; sister and brother-in-law Mildred andTodd Morgon of Long Beach; seven grandchildren; and threegreat-grandchildren.

A shelter service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 15, atFort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

Oscar Flores, 33

ESCONDIDO – Oscar Flores, 33, died Thursday, June 7, 2001.

Born Sept. 16, 1967, in Mexico, he lived in Escondido for 14 years.He was a cook at the Rancho Bernardo Inn for 13 years. He enjoyedplaying soccer, running, basketball and traveling.

Mr. Flores is survived by his wife of eight years, Virginia Floresof Escondido; mother Socorro Flores and father Cruz Flores, both ofAlcapulco, Mexico; sons Oscar Flores Jr. and Dominic Flores, bothof Escondido; daughter Kenia M. Flores of Escondido; brother andsister-in-law Abel and Jacinta Flores of Mexico; and sister andbrother-in-law Susana and Enrique Machicao of Denver.

Viewing is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 12, atAlhiser-Comer Mortuary. A Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m.Wednesday, June 13, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment willfollow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Huntley Owens, 88

VISTA – Huntley Thomas Owens, 88, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, athis home.

Born June 18, 1912, in Los Angeles, he lived in Vista for 31 years.He was the owner/operator of Owens Radio & TV Service for 30years.

Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Owens, on Feb.3, 1985, and wife Gwen Owens in January 2000.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Thomas and KarenOwens of Torrance; and grandchildren Holly, Steven and Scott Owens.No formal services are planned. A private burial is planned atPacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach.

June Smith, 73

ESCONDIDO – June E. Smith, 73, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at herhome of emphysema.

Born July 1, 1927, in Ponca City, Okla., she lived in Escondido for13 years. She retired in 1993 as a nurse from PomeradoHospital.

Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her brothers, Mike Richardson,in November 1999 and Charles Richardson in November 2000. She issurvived by her son, Phillip Smith of Escondido; daughter SusanClester of Grants Pass, Ore.; and grandson Dany Clester.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, June 17, atEternal Hills Chapel with Dr. Frank Newbern officiating.
