Stop poisoning yourself with toxic food! Most bottled salad dressings are made of soybean oil and/or cottonseed oil. These oils are not suitable as food. They are manufactured liquids that are the end result of industrial processes that rely on high temperatures and toxic petrochemicals to make a product that looks clean and safe.

Theseoils were created as a use for the seeds leftover from cotton production processing. Some clever folks figured out how to crush these seeds and process the result to lubricate their factories and tractors. In the early 1900’s, Proctor & Gamble spent some time figuring out how to clean this oil up and make it shelf stable by mixing it with nickel compounds and processing it at high heat. The result was a saturated hard fat. To make this stuff a little more appetizing, they would clean it up a little further by using petrochemical solvents like hexane. Don’t get me wrong, I use a similar product to get the grease stains out of my ties, but I don’t ever put those ties in my mouth.

Not only are these oils unnatural, high refined “foods”, but they are also not the type of fats we should be ingesting. All “vegetable” (where “vegetables” means soybeans and cotton seeds) oils contain a mix of polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, and saturated fatty acids. Canola oil consists mostly of monounsaturated fats (61 percent, almost as much as olive oil) and polyunsaturated fats (32 percent). Of all vegetable oils, it is lowest in saturated fats (7 percent).

The USDA and the American Heart Association have been telling me for years that I should be avoiding fat and particularly saturated fat! What gives?” The USDA gets it information from “scientific” groups such as the AHA. What they didn’t tell you was that the American Heart Association came into being thanks to a generous campaignby the Proctor & Gamble Corporation! The same company that created Crisco! See where I’m going with this?

In fact, look here. Isn’t it interesting that all of these pharmaceutical companies are supporting an organization that suggests that you fill up on unhealthy oil? Isn’t it interesting that these same companies get their money from people with heart disease who buy pharmaceuticals to mitigate their heart health issues?

I’m not buying theirpills or their suggestions on destroying my health on their seed oils. I’m making myown mayo with yummy avocado oil and then incorporating that into my salad dressing.
