South Carolina has found a second quarterback target for the 2025 class.

The first one was Ryan Montgomery of Findlay, Ohio. Beamer and quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains went all in for Montgomery only to see him commit to Georgia in April.

Now, Beamer and Loggains have turned their attention to Cutter Woods (6-3, 205) of Westside High School in Anderson. Woods led his Westside 7 on 7 team to the championship at USC last week. His throws obviously impressed Beamer and Loggains, and they decided to offer.

Woods led Westside to a state championship last season, passing for 4,395 yards and 42 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He committed to Wake Forest in April.

• Another quarterback on the Gameco*cks' radar is Irmo QB/athlete AJ Brand (6-1, 200). He has made official visits this month to USC and Virginia Tech. He had been talking to Oregon State about a visit, but that does not appear to be in the works at this point.

With no other visits in mind, Brand has set June 23 for his commitment announcement. He and his family are still working on the decision.

“Both of my visits have been great,” Brand said. “Just narrowing down the decision, the key factors for June 23rd. I’m just trusting the process right now, just looking at some things that have to go into making such a big decision like this. Me and my family’s mind will really be made up by June 23rd.”

Brand passed for 2,932 yards and 45 touchdowns, and rushed for 1,113 yards and 17 touchdowns at Irmo. The Hokies want him strictly for quarterback.

Clemson offer

Irmo receiver Donovan Murph (6-3, 180), a class of 2026 prospect, received an offer from Clemson following day one of Dabo Swinney’s annual high school camp earlier this month.

“My mindset at the end of the day was just going out and having fun,” Murph said. “I wanted to compete against the guys and play live in front of (wide receivers coach) Coach (Tyler) Grisham. I was able to compete and have fun, and it was an awesome experience.”

Murph has nearly 30 offers, including South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Miami, North Carolina, Mississippi State, Tennessee and others, but his offer from Clemson stood out significantly. “It was really special,” Murph confessed. “He’s the only head coach who has offered me out of all my 23 offers. Knowing that I was one of the first wide receivers in the class of 2026 that was offered, and to see my hard work pay off, it was a blessing.”

Last season, Murph caught 67 passes for 1,087 yards and a school-record 17 touchdowns.
