Caps are the main currency in Fallout 76. They can be pretty difficult to get ahold of, and you’ll need them to buy new items from the vendors at Greenbrier. Now that Fallout 76 has been out for a while, players have been busy finding out the fastest and easiest ways to earn Caps. These range from farming and selling certain items, to killing a bunch of enemies and looting their corpses. How to Earn and Farm Caps Fast in Fallout 76
There are a few confirmed ways to make Caps very quickly in Fallout 76. Some of the methods that worked earlier have been patched by Bethesda, so it is important to note that while the methods described below work at the time of writing, they are subject to change. We’ll be sure to keep this page updated as new methods are worked out though, so stay tuned for further updates.
- Sell weapons
- Complete main quests
- Trade with other players
- Look for Caps stashes while out exploring
- Level up your Hacking and lockpicking so you can break into safes and vault stashes.
- Look for Luck perk cards that increase the amount of Caps you’ll find when looting.
- Use certain replayable quests to reap the rewards over and over.
Fallout 76 Mothman Egg Farming
The first method we’re going to be taking a look at is farming and selling Mothman eggs. To find them, you’ll need to head down to the Mothman Museum area and look for Mothman eggs. Collect as many as you can and then load into a new server and collect more. These eggs will go for around 4 caps a piece, which will quickly add up. The main problem that you may run into is that vendors in a server only have a limited amount of caps to give you, but this will refresh over time.
Fallout 76 Super Mutant Farming
Another way that we’ve found that’s great for farming Caps is killing Super Mutants. They are an enemy in the game that often carry Caps on them, so killing them will earn you Caps from looting their bodies. One area that we’ve found particularly great for farming Super Mutants is the Eastern Regional Penitentiary. Just reload a server and then head here. There is usually around 20 Super Mutants to take on in this area, so kill them, collect Caps, then repeat.
Loot Nuke Sites For Valuable Resources
Another great way to get loads of Caps is to loot an irradiated area after a nuke has landed. You’ll need some serious Rad protection, but the rewards are well worth it.
Best Way to Farm Money in Fallout 76 For New Players
As well as the methods outlined previously, there are a few ways to collect Caps that are both profitable and easy for new players. One of the most notable ones is running the Tadpole Athlete's course, a very quick mini-quest that gives a moderate reward and can be replayed over and over.
To find the Athlete's course and use it, you'll first have to sign up for the Order of the Tadpole, which we've outlined here. Don't worry, you don't have to complete that quest, just start it. After that, head East into the hills to find Sunnytop Ski Lanes. It'll actually be marked on your map by a green-roofed lodge, so you can find it even before going for the first time. Once you find it, circle around until you find a sandwich board displaying "Pioneer Scouts Athletics Course" with a speaker next to that. Talk to the speaker to begin the Athletics Test Quest.
What follows next is a little tricky - the objective of the quest is to make it safely down the mountain course within three minutes. That's easily achieveable, but the whole area is littered with traps, ranging from mines to flamethrowers and even a missile launcher. The first time you go down, take your time to deactivate and destory every trap from a distance. Don't worry if you don't complete the course in time, just methodically clear the path of any danger.
After it is clear, however, return to the top of the course and speak to the speaker to begin it again. Now the path is clear, you can make it down in about a minute or so. Beating the time will net you numerous healing items, a respectable amount of experience, a few explosives and 50 caps each time! From that point on, all you need to do is keep running the course, allowing you to collect the reward over and over. Don't fast travel up the mountain, by the way, as there's a chance it'll reset the traps if nobody's around.
